(Shiloh, Ill.) The members of the REALTOR® Association of Southwestern Illinois have used their annual Holiday Celebration to collect toys and food for The Griffin Center in East St. Louis, and the Community Interfaith Food Pantry in Belleville. However, due to COVID-19 mitigations, they were not able to get their members together and provide a drop-off point for donations. They know how much these organizations depend on the generosity of others and their yearly contribution, so they got creative. Instead of the usual holiday party, they hosted an online trivia night, “It’s a Wonderful Trivia Night.”
The event was held the evening of Thursday, December 3rd. The evening boasted a holiday theme, complete with members dressing up and decorating their homes. Each team had a holiday themed name and even answered a round of holiday questions. The event’s entire proceeds benefitted the two organizations including registration, mulligan sales, and a 50/50 raffle. The event raised $2,177, to be split evenly among the organizations.
“Our members feel so strongly about the work these organizations do and we know how many people these donations help each year.” Says Celeste Wheeler, President of the REALTOR® Association of Southwestern Illinois. “With the added strain this year has placed on everyone, we know they will be serving more people than ever, and we were grateful to find a way to help.”
The REALTOR® Association will continue its efforts to help those in the Metro-East. Throughout 2020, the Association helped the following organizations: REALTOR® Relief Fund, Heartlands Conservancy, Caritas Family Solutions, and now The Griffin Center and the Community Interfaith Food Pantry.
