(Shiloh, Ill.) “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” -Winston Churchill. The members of the REALTOR® Association of Southwestern Illinois, in conjunction with the Home Builders Association of Greater Southwest Illinois, know the joy of giving this holiday season. They collected toys, food, and money for two local non-profit organizations. The toys were donated to and graciously accepted by the Griffin Center in East St. Louis, and the Community Interfaith Food Pantry in Belleville kindly accepted the food donations.
The REALTOR® Association recently held its Annual Holiday Celebration with the Home Builders Association, on December 6th at Gateway Classic Cars. Members of the Association could be seen bringing in loads of toys including cars, trucks, dolls, games, balls and more, as well as bags of canned goods and non-perishable food. Many members also made monetary contributions totaling more than $350.
“Our members not only work here, they live here” states Judy Ross, President of the REALTOR® Association of Southwestern Illinois. “Giving is so important, but to give back to your community shows the sense of pride these REALTORS® have for their hometowns. These organizations depend on the generosity of others and help so many people, who may only need help around the holidays, or may depend on them every day, which is why the REALTOR® Association gives all year long.
The REALTOR® Association will continue its efforts to help those in the Metro-East. Throughout 2018, the Association helped the following organizations: REALTOR® Relief Fund, the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois, the Airmen’s Attic at Scott Air Force Base, and now the Griffin Center and the Community Interfaith Food Pantry.
